Travel with young children can be challenging because it often breaks your familiar routine. The American Academy of Pediatrics has a few holiday travel trip and visit safety tips:
- Clean up immediately after parties to reduce the risk of possible choking on leftover food or drinks
- You may visit a home that isn't childproof, so be sure to scope out any potential dangers to your child
- In cold weather, children in car safety seats should wear thin layers with a blanket over the top of the harness straps if needed, not a thick coat or snowsuit.
- Traveling and visiting family members can increase your child's stress levels. Trying to stick to your child's usual routines, including sleep schedules and timing of naps, can help you and your child enjoy the holidays and reduce stress.
